Church Secretary Position

General Summary
 
Historic church in downtown Raleigh seeks administratively minded person with excellent computer and interpersonal skills to work with minimal supervision, evolve and adjust to responsibilities for communication and interaction with Church members, Presbytery and public. 32 hours/week, Monday-Thursday, two weeks vacation, educational benefits. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1) Prepare, publish and print weekly Church bulletins/special bulletins as needed for internal distribution; prepare and distribute monthly Session meeting materials, manage Church -mail and telephone messages and respond to communications within designated areas of responsibility/forward to appropriate individuals or Committees;
 
2) Maintain office equipment to perform required duties including updating software and hardware as needed, troubleshooting network problems and maintaining wireless network security;
 
3) Reconcile monthly bank statements in QuickBooks, prepare financial reports as needed for Session, Treasurer and Presbyterian Loan Company;
 
4) Maintain all official Church rosters, forms, letterhead and electronic communication media;
 
5) Regularly update Church marquee, manage Website and post livestream links for Sunday and Church activities; 
 
6) Perform general office duties including answering telephones, handling regular correspondence via lett4er, e-mail or fax, scheduling necessary deliveries and regular maintenance appointments for pest control, heating/AC, phone/computer service, landscaping, etc.;
 
7) Under the direction of and direct reporting to Church pastor, maintain all administrative support to Church pastor including church calendar and scheduling Zoom and/or other Church meetings.
 
Job Qualifications
-High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred;
-Excellent and experienced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), working knowledge of Quick Books and ability to quickly become familiar with new  software;
– Organizational abilities needed to properly maintain and manage paper filing system as well as computer files, Church You-Tube and Facebook page, church website;
– Superior interpersonal skills with ability to work with minimal supervision and interact with Church members, Presbytery and public;
– References required and background check prior to hiring;
